Nu Colombia reaches 4 million customers, doubling its base in one year

This major milestone comes four years after the launch of its first product in the country

Bogotá, November 27, 2025 Nu Colombia has reached 4 million customers, successfully doubling its user base in just 12 months. This major milestone comes four years after the launch of its first product in the country. Since then, Nu has transformed the local financial landscape, expanding its offering from a single credit card to a robust portfolio that now includes three credit card options, a savings account featuring Cajitas (Money Box) functionality, five Certificate of Deposit (CDT) options, and personal loans. This expansion means Nu’s products now impact the lives of 10% of the adult Colombian population.

Nu arrived in Colombia in 2020, initiating operations in 2021, with the clear goal of simplifying financial lives and promoting inclusion through transparent and accessible products. Its pace of expansion in the country has been remarkably fast, outpacing that of other geographies where the company operates. Thanks to its 100% digital model, Nu has achieved a 10x customer growth rate in the last 4 years, allowing it to reach full national coverage, with users in 100% of the country’s departments and more than 95% of its municipalities.

The trust of Colombians is clearly evident in the performance of Cuenta Nu whose volume of deposits grew +841% in one year, positioning the company as one of the five largest financial institutions in the country by deposits. This strength translates into direct benefits: Nu has delivered over $760 billion pesos in returns to its customers through the account product and CDTs. Currently, 66% of its users utilize the Cajitas feature for multiple financial purposes, and 11% have already invested in CDTs, demonstrating that the portfolio is successfully facilitating access to savings and investment for millions of people for the first time.

Reaching 4 million customers in the country in just 4 years shows that people were ready to adopt a different financial offer, states Marcela Torres, General Manager of Nu Colombia. She adds, “4 million people have placed their trust in Nu, which fills us with pride, and many of them have obtained a credit card or invested in a CDT for the very first time. We will continue to focus on offering unique, frictionless products and experiences, and working relentlessly to be the most influential and beloved financial institution in the country.”

Nu will continue to focus on transforming the way Colombians access financial services, and on driving access to credit for the more than 25 million people in Colombia who still lack it.
