Nubank named Best Digital Bank globally by Finovate

São Paulo, September 10, 2025 – Nubank has been named “Best Digital Bank” at the annual global Finovate Awards, an honor that recognizes a digital-only or digital-first bank that exemplifies quality products and exceptional digital experience. The award celebrates Nubank’s commitment to redefining financial services through a customer-centric approach, innovative technology, and a focus on accessibility.

Nubank is now one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing digital financial services platforms, serving nearly 123 million customers globally. Founded in 2013, Nubank was created to challenge the complexities and high fees of traditional banking in Latin America. The company’s digital-first strategy is rooted in its mission to “fight complexity to empower people.” This philosophy is evident in its user experience, which is designed to be simple, intuitive, and accessible to everyone, regardless of their level of financial literacy.

Nubank’s focus on a quality digital experience is reflected in its products and services, which are designed to increase financial inclusion. Its first product was a no-fee credit card managed entirely through an app, setting a new standard in the Brazilian market. The company has since grown to become Brazil’s third-largest financial institution, serving  60% of the adult population – with 60% of those customers using Nu as their primary financial relationship. 

In addition to its home market, Nubank has expanded into Mexico and Colombia where the customer base reached 12 million customers in Mexico, now serving around 13% of Mexico’s adult population; and reaching 3.4 million customers in Colombia, serving nearly 10% of Colombia’s adult population. In Mexico, the all-digital model has reached 98% of municipalities, and it has provided around 48% of its customers with their first-ever credit card. The recent authorization to become a bank from the Comisión Nacional Bancaria y de Valores (CNBV) in April 2025 (awaiting its final operational approval) will allow Nubank to further expand its product portfolio to serve more of the financially underserved population.

In addition to Finovate, Nu’s impact has been recognized in multiple awards, including Time 100 Companies, Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies, and Forbes World’s Best Banks. Nubank has been publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange since 2021 under the ticker symbol NU.
