Mexico City, Mexico, January 2, 2026 – Nu México, a digital financial services platform with more than 13 million customers in the country, announced that Romina Benvenuti, Director of Public, Regulatory, and Legal Affairs at Nu México, has been appointed co-chair of the Digital Banking and Payments Committee of the Association of Banks of Mexico (ABM) for the 2025-2027 term. Benvenuti shares the appointment with Carlos González Fillad, Executive Director of Global Payment Solutions at HSBC.

“I share the Association of Banks of Mexico’s vision of contributing to the construction of an inclusive, secure, and open financial ecosystem. Taking on the co-chairmanship of this Committee is an honor and a great responsibility. At Nu, we are convinced that the future of banking in Mexico is digital, and we are committed to working with the industry through the ABM to drive this innovation for the benefit of all Mexicans,” stated Romina.

The Digital Banking and Payments Committee is one of the ABM’s 26 specialized working committees and is part of the Digitalization and Payment Methods Commission. These committees aim to facilitate collaboration and develop projects focused on the proper functioning, development, and modernization of the national banking and financial system, as well as increasing its efficiency and competitiveness.

With six years in Mexico, Nu has played a key role in narrowing the gap in access to financial services by offering simple products and services to its customers, who now number more than 13 million people. The company has significant geographical penetration, with 78% of its users living in areas outside the country’s major cities. The evolution of its customers’ financial lives is notable, with nearly 50% obtaining their first credit card through Nu and finding the platform to be an entry point into the formal financial system.
