Nubank eliminates currency spread for the Ultravioleta Global Account and reimburses customers affected by temporary increase in IOF

São Paulo, June 30, 2025 – Nubank announced today the complete elimination of the currency spread in the Ultravioleta Global Account for conversions from Brazilian reais to over 40 currencies, providing significant savings in international transactions and ensuring the best offer on the foreign currency purchasing market through a global account. Nu will also reimburse the difference in IOF on transactions made between May 23 and June 26. Therefore, Ultravioleta customers who used the Global Account during this period will have the impact of the temporary tax increase canceled. The refund will be made by the end of this week, directly to the Ultravioleta Account balance, in Brazilian reais, with no active request needed.

Removing the currency spread is effective indefinitely for foreign currency purchases made in Brazilian reais, reinforcing Nubank’s commitment to offering its customers the most attractive and differentiated options. Before this change, Nu already provided the best rates, with a 0.8% spread for the dollar, euro, and British pound and rates of up to a maximum of 2.62% for other currencies.

Ultravioleta Global Account benefits

The Global Account allows customers to manage balances in reais, dollars, euros, and over 40 other currencies directly within the Nubank Ultravioleta app. There is no need to download new apps or open a new account. Account holders are also entitled to two free monthly withdrawals, with no limit on the amount, at Mastercard ATMs worldwide (subject to ATM fees). Moreover, the Global Card, available in physical and virtual options, has no issuance fee and can be easily added to digital wallets.
