Nubank goes beyond finance and incorporates FIFA World Cup 2022™ Bolão into the app
In an innovative move, the Company launches a new tab in its app dedicated to experiences and surprises about the biggest global tournament among national teams

São Paulo, October 20, 2022 – Nubank, one of the largest digital financial services platforms in the world, launches the first social interaction tool within its application: NuBolão. The feature will be made available gradually in the new tab of the app dedicated exclusively to FIFA World Cup 2022™ content and was designed so that more than 66.4 million customers in Brazil can create groups and make predictions of the games in a simple, fun, and free way. Users can make their guesses between October 27 and December 18.
“The initiative came after we heard from our customers that usually the bolão experience available in the market is not very technological and that almost half of the people used spreadsheets in the last edition of the global tournament. That’s when we decided to invest in NuBolão to elevate the experience of the FIFA World Cup 2022™ with the technology, simplicity, and features that Nu offers, and enhance this nice ritual that’s part of the Brazilian culture”, comments Isabela Abbes, Brand Director at Nubank.
There are two ways for customers to participate in the bolão: in the General Ranking, with all other participating users; or in the Group Bolão, where people can create closed groups and invite friends and family who are also Nubank customers to compete. Each group will have its own ranking and each user can participate in up to 100 private groups, with unique and valid guesses for all of them and for the General Ranking.
With NuBolão, the prizes will be distributed based on the user’s performance as a predictor. The three highest-ranked customers in the General Ranking at the end of the group phase will be awarded as follows:
- 1st place: R$20,000 deposited in Nubank’s Caixinhas and a gift card worth R$3,000 to use at McDonald’s for six months;
- 2nd place: R$ 12,000 deposited in Nubank’s Caixinhas and a gift card worth R$ 3,000 to use at McDonald’s for six months;
- 3rd place: R$ 5,000 deposited in Nubank’s Caixinhas and a gift card worth R$ 3 thousand to use at McDonald’s for six months;
In addition, awards will be given to the three highest-ranked customers in the General Ranking when the FIFA World Cup 2022™ ends:
- 1st place: R$ 60,000 deposited in Nubank’s Caixinhas and a gift card worth R$ 3,000 to use at McDonald’s for six months;
- 2nd place: R$35,000 deposited in the Nubank Caixinhas and a gift card worth R$3,000 to use at McDonald’s for six months;
- 3rd place: R$ 20,000 deposited in Nubank’s Caixinhas and a gift card worth R$ 3,000 to be used at McDonald’s for six months;
Throughout the FIFA World Cup 2022™, Nubank will be raffling off 400 prizes worth R$400, of which R$300 in cash to be deposited into Nubank Caixinhas and R$100 in gift cards to be used at McDonald’s. To participate, just make a guess to receive a lucky number – each new guess generates a new chance to win. In other words, the more the customer guesses, the more chances he or she has. The number of lucky numbers increases when entering closed groups, generating 5 extra numbers (limited to 1 lucky number maximizer per CPF).
Each participant can only be awarded once in each NuBolão category. Individual Nubank customers who are 18 years old and older, and have a valid account in Brazil can participate. Simply enter your first guess in any available game to start competing for prizes.
