Nubank installs vending machine to raise awareness about insurance
The company's new campaign explores the Brazilian habit of believing in superstitions and reinforces the "N possibilities" that Nu offers for added peace of mind

São Paulo, August 17, 2023 – Many people protect themselves with candles and crystals. Still, according to an IBGE survey, only 11% of the population has cell phone insurance, and only 15% have life insurance, according to a study by FenaPrevi. With this motto, Nubank announces its new marketing campaign, which explores the habit and beliefs of the population in superstitions, to talk about insurance. In an activation at Ibirapuera Park, in Sao Paulo, the brand will install a vending machine with protection amulets used by many superstitious Brazilians.
Those strolling through the park on August 19 can play the quiz on the machine, find out their profile, and receive mystical gifts from Nu. The activation aims to expand people’s knowledge about the importance of having insurance in an innovative and fun way. According to a Susep survey, only 17% of the country’s population has insurance, and 40% have never had any. The idea is to raise awareness about having more financial peace of mind during unforeseen events.
“We know that everyone has a way of protecting themselves, including their rituals, but we want to present new possibilities so that people don’t rely solely on luck. With this new campaign, we want to broaden the perception that having insurance is not an expense, but an investment to protect your future. We will expand conversations on the subject in a light way to bring more knowledge to the population about the importance of insurance”, comments Juliana Roschel, marketing director at Nubank.
Since announcing its debut into the insurance segment with the launch of Nubank Vida, Nu has expanded its portfolio into new categories, with Nubank Celular Seguro (mobile), Nubank Auto (car), Nubank Parcela Segura (which offers protection to personal loans), Nu Vidas Juntas (a life insurance program that allows the insured to gift another customer with an individual policy), and Nubank Lar Seguro, announced last week by the company.
All options are available to eligible Nu customers and can be contracted through the app in a customizable, 100% digital, and unbureaucratic way.
