Nubank teams up with Manu Gavassi to raise awareness among consumers about scams during Black Friday

The Nubank Academy for Vigilant Consumers is a TikTok-based training platform designed to help the public identify fraud and enjoy safe promotions

São Paulo, October 29, 2024 — As Black Friday approaches, Nubank teams up with Manu Gavassi to launch the Nubank Academy for Vigilant Consumers. Hosted on TikTok, this platform was created to alert consumers about the prevention of fake offers, especially during this retail season.

Manu Gavassi will guide participants through interactive training sessions where people will answer questions and interact with the artist through gamification. The goal is to teach consumers to identify real promotions and avoid common scams, such as phony discounts and non-existent stores. 

“We are reinforcing a priority theme for Nubank, which is security, using gamification features, showing that digital protection requires constant attention so that everyone can enjoy promotions safely, especially during Black Friday, when the enthusiasm for offers might increase consumers’ vulnerability. This is yet another action where Nubank places the customer at the center of everything, offering tools that make their financial experiences simpler and more effective,” explains Juliana Roschel, Nubank Brasil’s marketing director.

“This initiative is essential because it addresses online security in an educational way. Many people don’t know the risks in advance, so they can take precautions, especially during times like Black Friday. With these trainings, we want everyone to identify risks and shop with more peace of mind,” says Manu Gavassi.

Nu Academy 

Safe Shopping Room: A TikTok filter/game where users must avoid fake links on the screen to find the true promotion. Manu presents the training with tips on how to act in the face of these scams. 

Scam Detector: Manu plays the role of two sellers, a “scammer” and a legitimate one, to warn about fraudulent stores. Users can choose which seller to interact with by comparing subtle details.

Fraud Simulator: A duet-style video where Manu alternates simple questions with requests for sensitive information, such as “your email password,” simulating a common scam tactic, encouraging participants to distinguish between safe and dangerous information.
