Nubank’s new campaign features Antonio Fagundes in ‘The Last of Us’ universe

São Paulo, April 9, 2025 – Nubank announces the launch of a new campaign with Brazilian actor Antonio Fagundes, inspired by the HBO Original series “The Last of Us”, available in Max. The short film “The Fagundes Rehearsal”, launched today on social media, promotes the premiere of the second season of the series, sponsored by Nu on the streaming platform, as a result of the partnership between Nubank and Max.
The campaign explores Antonio Fagundes’ interest in “The Last of Us”. Fagundes has already publicly expressed his admiration for the series. The short film presents a narrative about the actor who, believing he has been called for a supposed role in a “The Last of Us” initiative with Nubank, begins rehearsals but, in the end, discovers that he has been invited not to act, but to be himself, as a fan, and enjoy the series with Nubank on Max.
This initiative follows other Nubank campaigns in the film and series segment, including “Plans on Paper” with Leslie David Baker, HBO’s “House of the Dragon” with Ana Maria Braga, and “Nubanc” with Matt LeBlanc.
Juliana Roschel, Nubank’s CMO, says that the campaign reflects the company’s objective of offering relevant benefits and experiences to customers “At Nu, we follow our customers’ interests closely and this campaign exemplifies how authentic partnerships come from connecting real passions. Many people don’t know it, but Antonio Fagundes, who stars in the Nubank campaign and is adored and recognized throughout Brazil, also shares this side of him as a fan of ‘The Last of Us’. We wanted to bring this element of surprise and create an unexpected narrative that would promote this connection, bringing together different universes,” says Juliana.’
The initiative reinforces the partnership between Nubank and Max, a benefit available to Nubank+ customers, who can get a subscription at no additional cost to the monthly Basic plan with Ads and the possibility of upgrading to a monthly Standard plan. In addition, Nubank+ offers instant cashback of 0.5% on the credit card, Payment Assistant and free withdrawals from the Banco24Horas service.

I also think it’s very interesting to talk about financial products and benefits through stories rather than advertising alone. The campaign, created by Nubank’s in-house team, will run on social media. In addition to the main 3-minute film, other films are part of the campaign. Nubank is also sponsoring the launch of the second season of the series on Max.
