São Paulo, August 9, 2022 – Nubank, one of the world’s largest digital banking platforms, announces the transition of Anitta from Board Member to a new position as Global Ambassador. It is a new step for Nubank’s global marketing, following the star’s international rise.
The international singer and businesswoman will complete her mandate up to the 2022 Annual General Meeting, and due to her increasingly intense agenda as a global pop star, has requested not to renew her participation. Anitta will continue working closely with the company as the Global Brand Ambassador, supporting strategic campaigns and communication projects, including financial education and social impact, and Nubank’s sponsorship activities in the 2022 Fifa World Cup.
Over the past year, as a member of the Board, Anitta has played a key role with her business experience and her knowledge of consumer marketing. As a member of the Stakeholders Committee, she contributed to the definition of the ESG strategy, the launch of Instituto Nu, and other relevant topics. As Brand Ambassador, Anitta will continue to be involved in marketing strategy and campaigns, such as Futuro and Pedacinhos.
“Anitta is an extraordinary businesswoman and we are incredibly thankful for her contributions to date. Since she joined Nubank, she has played an important role by bringing a lot of her expertise and customer knowledge to our Company. We look forward to continuing working with her in her new capacity as marketing ambassador,” says David Vélez, CEO and founder of Nubank.
“I’m a Nubank shareholder and really believe in the company and what we still have to develop together. Being Nu’s global ambassador makes me extremely happy and proud, especially as we continue to drive impact through financial education for millions of people”, says Anitta.
New Board Member
Nubank also announces that Thuan Pham will be appointed as a member of its Board. Pham is the current Chief Technology Officer at Coupang, and in the period when he worked as CTO of Uber, from 2013 to 2020, he was responsible for the exponential growth of their engineering team. As a Board member, he will help the company scale its technology platform to execute the next decade of growth. Mr. Pham’s appointment will be submitted to shareholders’ approval at the 2022 Annual General Meeting.
“Thuan is one of the most talented and experienced technologists in the world. We are excited to work with him to solve some of the most complex technology and scaling challenges of a rapidly-growing company such as ours”, says David Vélez.
“Nubank is one of the fastest-growing technology companies in the world, and these are still the early days for the company. There are a lot of opportunities to use technology to serve and delight even more customers around the world with more products and services in the years ahead. I am delighted to join Nubank in this capacity and very much looking forward to working with the Board and the leadership team to continue building and taking Nubank to greater heights,” says Thuan Pham.
Prior to joining Coupang, Mr. Pham served as Chief Technology Officer of Uber from April 2013 to May 2020. From December 2004 to January 2013, Pham served in various Vice President roles at VMWare, Inc., a software and technology company, including the role of Vice President of R&D – Cloud Management Platform from June 2012 to January 2013. He holds both a B.S. and M.S. degrees in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
