Nubank presents the podcast The Hammock by Building Nu

São Paulo, April 5, 2023 –  Nubank, one of the world’s largest digital banking platforms, presents the podcast The Hammock by Building Nu, focused on exploring emerging topics in technology, engineering practices, and career development. This new space also intends to promote efficient problem-solving skills and raise awareness about important issues in the software community. 

“Imagine a space for engineers to step away from their computers and take a moment to contemplate and think things through. This is how we envisioned the podcast. In addition, by bringing together a team of experts to discuss these topics, The Hammock hopes to provide listeners with valuable insights and perspectives they can apply to their own work”, says Christian Romney, Director of Engineering at Nubank and one of the hosts.

The podcast will air in English to leverage the content through the global software community, and a new episode will be released monthly. The first episode brings a special guest, Vitor Olivier, Nubank’s Chief Technology Officer, reflecting on Nubank’s technical bets, engineering culture, as well as open source and artificial intelligence, and his challenges for 2023.

The name “The Hammock” is an homage to Rich Hickey, the creator of the Clojure programming language and a Distinguished Software Engineer at Nubank. In his talk entitled “Hammock Driven Development”, Rich emphasized the importance of stepping away from the computer when thinking through problems.
