São Paulo, Brazil, July 21, 2026 – Nubank has been ranked #1 in Latin America in the 2026 Evident AI Index for Banks – LATAM, earning the top position across a field of the region’s 20 largest financial institutions.
Developed by Evident, the leading independent intelligence and benchmarking platform for AI in financial services, the AI Index for Banks is one of the financial industry’s leading independent rankings evaluating AI maturity. It covers major banks across North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, and now Latin America, and its benchmarks are built entirely on publicly-available data.
The LATAM Index evaluated banks across Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, and Panama, scoring each across four pillars: Talent, Innovation, Leadership and Transparency. Nubank finished first overall, and was one of only two institutions in the region to rank in the top three across every pillar.
Under the leadership of its Founder and Global CEO David Vélez, Nubank made AI a core strategic priority for the company, investing in proprietary AI capabilities, world-class technical talent, and the infrastructure needed to deliver increasingly intelligent, personalized financial products at scale for 135 million customers across Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia.
“The best AI organizations build the engineering systems, platforms, and culture that allow AI to improve every product and every customer interaction,” said Eric Young, CTO at Nubank. “This recognition from Evident reflects years of investment to make AI a foundational capability at Nubank, enabling us to innovate faster while maintaining the high standard of trust, risk management and reliability our customers expect.”
“Nubank is setting the standard for AI adoption in Latin America’s banking sector,” said Alexandra Mousavizadeh, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Evident. “Its combination of proprietary data, leading AI talent, and internally-developed models has enabled it to deliver better customer experiences, expand access to credit, and achieve a level of AI maturity that sets the pace for the rest of the region.”
This recognition adds to a growing list of global honors for Nubank in 2026. In April, Forbes named Nubank the best bank in Brazil for the eighth consecutive year and the best in Mexico for the fifth, in its World’s Best Banks ranking. Nubank was also named Latin America’s Best Digital Bank by Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2026 and one of Time’s 10 Most Influential Finance Companies of 2026.
