Discover Nu’s security tools that protect customers during carnival 

"Street Mode" activation grew 157% in Carnival 2024, driven by the capitals that stand out for carnival parties

São Paulo, February 5, 2025 – For Nubank customers who want to enjoy Carnival parties more safely, it is essential to know the app’s Protection Center. One of the main features, “Street Mode”, allows you to set limits for transactions made outside a Wi-Fi network registered as safe, minimizing losses in case the cell phone falls into unknown hands. Other features include biometric access and Verified Call in case of suspicious calls.

The feature is especially used by underage customers and those between 25 and 44 years old. “We identified that, if a device is stolen unlocked, using the feature can reduce the evaded amount by up to 95% if we consider Pix, TED and Boleto”, highlights Fabiola Marchiori, General Manager of Fraud Combat at Nubank.

In February last year, the number of Street Mode activations grew 157% compared to the previous month. And it is in the cities that host the most famous carnivals in Brazil that the greatest increase in the use of the security feature was registered: activations grew more than 200% in Recife, Belo Horizonte, Salvador and Rio de Janeiro.

To activate the features, simply access Nubank’s Protection Center, in the shield icon located in the upper right corner of the screen and follow the recommendations to activate the available protections. In the Center, it is also possible to change the password and block cards, generate temporary cards, purchase insurance, trigger claims, follow up on disputes and much more. The space will be gradually made available to customers until Carnival.

And, if necessary, it is worth remembering that Nubank customers who have their cell phone or card stolen can request immediate blocking of access to the application through the website Me Roubaram. Just enter with the 8-digit application login and password and follow the instructions or click on Sair de Tudo to log out of the devices.
