In six months, Instituto Nu celebrates more than 4,000 vacancies in technology courses and announces entrepreneurship vertical
Nubank's social innovation platform established technology training partnerships focused on employability for people from Brazilian favelas

São Paulo, December 5, 2022 – Instituto Nu, Nubank’s social impact initiative, completed six months since its launch with an important milestone: by November, more than 4,000 people had been impacted with vacancies for training courses in technology. The projects were developed with partners selected by the Institute, serving students from different states of Brazil.
The Education in Technology vertical was the first announced by Instituto Nu, in May this year, and focuses on employability. By May 2023, it is expected that more than 10,000 young people from favelas and peripheries in Brazil will have taken the courses, which are taught by partners Descomplica, Mais um Code and Toti Diversidade.
“We created and developed Instituto Nu collaboratively with partners who are part of the universe we want to impact. Each of these Ed Techs brought important value, whether in scale, customization or specialization in the peripheral territory. We are very happy with the result so far, recognizing that this is just the beginning of our work”, says Christianne Canavero, director of ESG at Nubank and Executive Director of Instituto Nu.
Marisa Santana, project manager at Instituto Nu adds that there were tens of thousands of enrollments for the courses already offered and that the demand reinforces the need for initiatives like these. “Instituto Nu was born with a clear purpose of challenging social scenarios of inequalities based on bureaucratic and decentralized solutions, as we know how to do at Nubank, while doing all this from a diversity and inclusion perspective as well.”
The next vertical of action to be announced by Instituto Nu soon is entrepreneurship, focused on women who own small businesses who seek to formalize their companies.
