In preparation for Black Friday, Nubank surpasses 100 sellers and expands offers in its marketplace

Nubank Shopping will feature exclusive offers on the warm-up for Black Friday, during the day itself, and on Cyber Monday, with discounts and cumulative cashback. The company also shares safety tips for the date

São Paulo, November 7, 2022 – Nubank, one of the world’s largest digital financial services platforms, is getting ready for Black Friday this year with special conditions in its marketplace that will be available for customers starting this Monday (November 7) until November 28. In a strong pace of expansion, Nubank Shopping arrives at one of the most relevant retail dates with more than 100 sellers, with the addition of new partners.

Nubank Shopping is preparing promotions for the entire month of November. In addition to the great deals and discounts offered by partner stores during Black Friday, customers can also guarantee additional cashback on their purchases made through Nu’s marketplace at these stores. There will be discounts of up to 50% and a cashback of up to 20% – the amount will be paid directly in the Nubank app and can be used as wished. In addition to cashback, customers will have exclusive discounts in some partner stores.

This Black Friday, Nubank aims to allow users to find more advantages in one place, in an organized manner. The marketplace section already gathers large retailers such as Casas Bahia, Americanas, Magazine Luiza, and Shopee, and now expands the offer to more than 100 partner stores, in new categories such as Electronics, Furniture, Home Appliances, Beauty, Health, and Food and Beverages.

The new sellers now part of Nubank’s app are: Boticário, Mobly, Arezzo, Sephora, Brastemp, Marisa, Eudora, Avon, Ri Happy, Hering, Beleza na Web, Ray Ban, TokStok, among many others. The new partners will gradually become available to the entire customer base in the coming weeks.

The more than 100 retailers are carefully selected and can be accessed – with exclusive advantages – directly through the company’s app. Customers can make simple and secure purchases in specific product categories (Fashion, Games, Travel, Pets, among others), with discounts, coupons, and cashback.

Launched in November last year, Nubank’s marketplace has since January this year transacted over R$ 1 billion in sales. In the same period, over 10 million customers were directed by Nubank to its partner retailers.

Black Friday with security

The company offers some tips to make the date even safer for consumers. Check out ways to be safe on Black Friday:

  • Pay attention to e-mails and social networks: One of the most common types of Internet scams is that in which the fraudster sends a message posing as a store, for example, and induces the person to hand over their data at the time of purchase. Instead of filling out the registration form to make the purchase, the person is giving his/her data to criminals. The links for this type of scam are usually sent by e-mail, social networks, and/or even SMS.
    • It is also worth paying attention to promotions and advertisements on social networks and/or messaging application statuses, such as WhatsApp, and to email addresses and/or websites. Criminals add extra letters or words to trick the consumer into giving their card details and making them believe they are making a legitimate purchase.
    • If you are unsure, access the official address of that brand directly from your browser (not using the link received) and consult the list of unreliable sites on the Procon page.
  • Use the virtual card: It offers more security in internet transactions, as it has a sequence of numbers, an expiration date, and a verification code that differs from your physical card. In addition, you can create virtual cards for specific purchases such as streaming subscriptions, delivery, or even for a single purchase on that website (or during Black Friday). Purchases with both physical and/or virtual cards come on the same invoice and it is easier to cancel or delete the virtual card if you suspect any improper transaction with it, and best of all, your physical card continues to function normally.
  • Avoid shopping on public wi-fi: When shopping using public networks, you don’t know for sure how exposed your data might be in the case that network is compromised. Therefore, avoid making online purchases when you are connected to the Internet from open locations.
  • Attention to boletos: If you have a habit of buying online, at some point you might think that a boleto received through email refers to your last purchase. Be attentive and check calmly if the bill received is from a purchase you actually made — and not a scam. Especially on promotional dates like Black Friday, scammers try to trick people by sending fake boletos that look like those of big brands.
  • Don’t confirm everything over the phone: Be careful when you answer calls that ask you to confirm data — especially passwords. No financial institution asks you to confirm passwords over the phone. If in doubt, hang up the phone, go to the company’s official website and call the SAC yourself — if possible, from a different phone other than the one you answered the call from.
