Nubank promotes campaign to raise awareness about scams and fraud

In an educational action, the company bought dozens of URLs that could be used for scams and turned them into a security portal

São Paulo, October 9, 2023 – To give even more visibility to security and empower people to identify possible financial scams, Nubank announces the campaign #PareceMasNãoÉoNubank (it looks like Nubank, but it isn’t). Through educational videos on major digital platforms, the company seeks to alert its customers to everyday situations that may look like they’re from Nubank but aren’t related to the company. In addition, it developed a security portal to redirect dozens of URLs previously used to confuse people and possibly carry out financial scams.

“We want to go beyond just warning people and raising awareness about this criminal practice and take a more concrete action,” says Juliana Roschel, Nubank’s marketing director. “That’s why we acquired internet domains that seem to be from Nubank but aren’t, and that could be used maliciously, redirecting them to a portal that will be permanently available and concentrate information and tips on protection against fraud and scams,” she explains.

With educational content amplified in the media and through influencers, the idea is to empower users to identify and avoid financial scams, and provide guidance on topics such as the most common tactics used by scammers; how they can use the Nubank brand to deceive people; how to report a scam attempt to Nubank; how to recognize legitimate customer service from Nubank; and how to recognize the legitimate profiles of the company on the internet. In addition, over the next few months, the company will have other actions related to the #PareceMasNãoÉoNubank theme.

The company has purchased over fifty URLs, including nubankbrasil.com.br, nubank.net.br, nubanks.com, and wwwnubank.com.br. “Our goal is for customers to feel more in control of the situation, being able to tell the signs of a scam and escape from it. That’s why we encourage people to use the campaign’s hashtag if they encounter suspicious profiles or social media content. And whenever there’s doubt, we encourage them to contact Nubank through the official customer service channels,” says Juliana Roschel.
