Nubank becomes the most-searched financial institution in the FIFA World Cup™

As an Official Regional Supporter, the company reached over 90 million people with its marketing strategy during the tournament

Sao Paulo, December 23, 2022 – Nubank reached the first position in internet searches about financial institutions related to the FIFA World Cup™. The company is also in the top ten of sponsorship recall of the tournament, as an Official Regional Supporter for the first time, reaching over 90 million people from June to December.

In social media, the company’s efforts were focused on engaging the public through posts that were in tune with what was happening at each moment – both in and outside of the field of play, including organic buzz generated on the internet. 

Nu took influencers to Qatar through a partnership with NWB (the largest digital sports network in the country) and further increased its online presence by partnering with Casimiro, the largest sports streamer in the world and who broke the record of the live stream with the highest number of simultaneous views on YouTube during the match Brazil x Serbia.

Other marketing actions included a TV advertisement film and NuBolão, an innovative social feature that helped further engage existing customers and influenced thousands of people to become Nu’s clients, reaching over 8 million users.

“Nubank has been looking for new platforms and communication channels that allow us to take our message to more people and show our power as a brand. That’s why we have decided to be an Official Regional Supporter of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, an event to which I believe we could make a significant contribution”, explains Juliana Roschel, Brand Senior Director at Nu. “Our idea was to encourage people to experience this event in a unique way, offering an unforgettable experience on and off the field.”

Nubank’s hospitality efforts were also a highlight: the company rewarded 19 customers (18 from Brazil and one from Colombia, with one companion each) with a trip to Qatar to watch FIFA World Cup™ live. 

“We were welcomed at the airport, the sightseeing and activities are amazing, we feel very safe, and the place is beautiful. And I have to mention a detail: the seats where we watch the matches – first, second row –  it’s an amazing experience”, said Simone Mendonça Pereira, Nubank customer and the companion of Ana Cristina Pereira, her sister and winner of one of the promotions.

For Igor Manoel da Costa Paes de Andrade, customer and winner of  “You in the FIFA World Cup 2022™ – Believe & Go with Nubank”, and Natalia Kroich da Silva Vieira, his companion during the trip and also Nubank’s customer, the name of the promotion captures the spirit perfectly. “There are many opportunities that we miss because we don’t believe it’s possible. Even when it seems impossible, when you’re up against thousands of people in a promotion, you have to believe it, and put energy into it. Believe it and go, and it works!”, advises Natalia.
